Your information
Privacy policy
This policy explains what ReefHarmony collects, why it is needed, when it is shared, and the choices available to you.
Effective August 13, 2026
Information we collect
Account information includes the identifiers and contact details needed to sign you in. Authentication is handled by Clerk. ReefHarmony stores an internal account identifier so your reef data is not tied directly to a single identity provider.
You choose what reef information to add, including profile details, tanks, livestock, equipment, additives, parameters, journal entries, posts, and photographs. Visibility controls determine which tank and journal information other people can see.
We also process limited technical and security information such as request timing, error type, rate-limit events, and device or browser characteristics needed to operate, protect, and improve the service. Production logs are designed to exclude secrets and unnecessary personal content.
How we use information
- Provide accounts, reef profiles, feeds, search, and notifications.
- Process and safely deliver uploaded images.
- Prevent abuse, investigate reports, and enforce community rules.
- Maintain reliability, diagnose failures, and measure service health.
- Meet legal obligations and respond to valid requests.
Public and private content
Public profiles, public tanks, and published posts can be viewed and indexed by search engines. Unlisted content is available to people who have its direct link. Private content is limited to its owner. Avoid placing sensitive personal information in public reef content or image descriptions.
Service providers and disclosures
ReefHarmony uses vendors to provide authentication, database hosting, object storage, image delivery, and application hosting. These vendors process information only as needed to provide their services under their own contractual and security commitments. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Information may be disclosed when required by law, to protect people or the service from harm, or as part of a business transaction with appropriate notice and safeguards.
Retention, export, and deletion
Account settings provide a machine-readable export and permanent deletion flow. Deletion removes public access immediately and queues stored media for removal. Limited security, legal, or backup records may remain for the shortest period reasonably required before routine expiry.
Security
ReefHarmony separates private originals from public image variants, verifies uploads server-side, applies request limits, and uses authorization checks at every data mutation boundary. No internet service can promise absolute security, so please report suspected account or data issues promptly.
Children
ReefHarmony is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. Contact us if you believe a child has created an account in violation of this policy.
Your choices and contact
You can update profile data, change visibility and notification preferences, block accounts, export your data, or delete your account from Settings. For privacy questions or requests, email privacy@reefharmony.com. We may verify identity before completing a request.
Policy changes
Material changes will be announced in the service or by another reasonable method before they take effect. The effective date above identifies the current version.
